Rafael Moraes / Nomumbah

Rafael Moraes / Nomumbah

You cannot only listen to samba and drink caipirinhas in Brazil

When Elis Regina came off the scenarios, having moved all of the hearts in Brazil, Rafael would go to the great diva concerts, with his parents while he was growing up, surrounded by an impeccable vinyl album collection that his family had. While he attended the University of Tom Jobim Free Music, he would polish his background, becoming a promising DJ and the percussion, which was beginning to be known by the hand of artists like Paula Lima and Elza Soares.

In 2003, he would get started in radio. First in Eldorado FM, with a nujazz, broken beat, future soul and house mix, which would lead him to an international radio show in 2007, named “Normumbah Radio Show”, giving popularity to his name, amongst the electronic music communities of London, Paris, Greece and Canada. Since then, there has been no American dance floor, which has able to resist his charms, festival like Winter Music Conference would call him year after year and he shares a cabin with stars like Osunlade, Timmy Regisford, Jazzanova, Karizma…

In the studio, he joins forces with Ale Reiss and Andre Torquato, to create a succulent mix of jazz, broken beat, Latin rhtythms and deep house, which captures the essence of black Brazilian culture, under the name of Nomumbah, reaching masters like Louie Vega, Henrik Schwarz, Atjazz and Jazzanova. From the Amazon country, he is an authentic boss of Brazilian deep house.
