Throughout more than 20 years of professional trajectory, Kirk Degiorgio has earned the nickname of “producer of producers”. Since his beginnings, in the height of the 80s as a breakdance DJ, until his productions like “As One” for Clear, Mo’Wax and Ubiquity, this British man, has kept away from clichés and close to his roots, with great productions that have converted him into an eclectic reference in the electronic music of today.
It was during 1990, after visiting Chicago and Detroit, when Kirk decided to sell all his albums to start ART Studios (Applied Rhythmic Technology) and later, the techno cult label Opt-Art. He would fuse his vision of Detroit’s sound with influences of jazz and funk, to give birth to disruptive projects by B12, Carl Craig, Aphex Twin or The Black Dog, which would attract international attention to the heart of the experimental British electronic scene.
Since then, Degiorgio has created many projects under the aliases of Future/Past, Planet E, R & S… mainly as One, with which he published “Reflections” and “Celestial Soul” (Muzik Top 30). Always at the top (they say that he was the Ableton Live pioneer), his following albums for Clear (UK) and Shield (France) and his collaborations for Red Bull Music Academy and Adidas, confirm that we are in front of a genuine and unique sound, which is capable of adding jazz, soul and funk in electronic structures, in the most fructiferous way. Warm techno-soul goes beyond the 4/4 constrictions, with P-Funk, Motown, early hip-hop, Detroit techno and Blue Note aromas.
