Illustrator, designer and observer (but not voyeur), Mr García makes collages since he came across with a book of Diego Lara in 2002.
Since then, chance, surrealism and the vanguard mark the spirit of his work for clients such as El País, La Vanguardia, Love of Lesbian and... this fall; Garito Café.
We interviewed him:
What is your first artistic memory?
At school, I drew on any paper that fell into my hands... even school books.
If you were not an artist, what would you have liked to be?
For a while I wanted to be a vet, but I dread the blood.
Diego Lara, Brossa, Surrealism in general. Lately I look towards Eastern Europe, Bohumil Stepan.
How do you do with art to make a living from it?
Make a living? Art feeds, although not exactly the pockets, but I have to say I have a happy life.
When will you do a self-portrait?
In ten years I have made three. I think the following should come very soon, right?
What is your craziest work?
I think is yet to come.
What is the borest work you've had to accept?
I have not had such bad luck, I like my job.
What do you think of Japanese iron?
I love Asian cuisine, and I manage superbly with chopsticks. Also I usually cook.
