Jose Manuel Alvarez, AKA Dubbyman, would give his first steps as DJ Jose Vertice in the early 90s, mixing acid house, funk, drum & bass and hip hop. He would later get involved with the house sound, orienting himself more to dub and electrofunk, which would lead him to lead cabins in lounges like Deep and Danzoo, as well as maintaining a spot in Freak. When he was already a producer, in mid 2002, he would change his name to Dubbyman. He would also move to play at Café Bar Las Descalzas and would expand his sessions through important lounges in Madrid, like Morpheus, Ohm, Taboo… at nationals like Le Club (Valencia), El Sol (Salamanca) and Telefunken (La Coruna).

In 2006, his participation in Sonar, would include an innovative combination of dub and black music, which would award him the international community acceptance and a new invitation to act in the 2007 edition. Since then, he has shared cabins with the European dubstep aristocracy (Kode 9, Oris Jay, Mary Anne Hobbs…), he has visited the main clubs in Amsterdam, Lisbon, Croatia, Bratislava, London… and at festivals like Freerotation.

At the moment, he co-directs the Deep Explorer Music label, editing his own work, as well as that of Robert Calvin (Turbo Recors, Loudeast (Odori, D-Press), Tempostop, (Aerobic Studio) and Rob Paine (Worship-Philadelphia), while he has a spot at the Sybaris Club lounge, playing his own personal selections of the latest funk, soul and Nujazz tendencies.
