Even if he prefers to name himself a music activist, instead of a DJ, Daniel Best has been involved in numerous projects, he has passionately travelled to different musical environments, after two decades of playing his Jazz, Soul, Reggae, Rare Groove or Disco House albums and always adding something from his vinyl collection.
He was raised in the city of Berlin and has worked in Cookies and Tausend, were he also hosts a variety of parties and events in the city of Spree, such as Kaleidoskop, alongside the Jazzanova team, in which artists like Carl Craig, Master at Work and Metro Area would play. At the same time, Daniel has worked for over a decade with the prestigious label from Berlin, Sonar Kollektive, from which he launched several recompilations of Soul, Reggae and other soul sounds, under the sub-label of Best Seven Records. Today, he is leading the “Best Works” artist agency, representing high level talents such as Jazzanova, Clara Hill, Andre Lodemann, Eva Be, Prommer & Barck, amongst many others.
His latest appearance in production was under G.I. He also started a project named Disco, with DJ Kalle Kuts, with whom he has published a recopilatory album in the legendary label from London, BBE. The album was titled G.I Disco The History of the Cold War’s hottest 80s club music in West Germany and was released during the final days of 2010. The album also received many positive reviews, from the music press and from national newspapers for its historical relevance as well, such as Der Spiegel and Die Tagezeitung.
